Halloween Fun!

This year the kids had the day of Halloween off from school, so we spent some time watching "Goosebumps" movies during the day to get into the spooky spirit! They are pretty cheesy movies, but pretty age appropriate and the kids loved them and did not have nightmares, so I consider that a success!!! For dinner I made "mummy hotdogs" (complete with eyes, even!) and "jack-o-lantern pizzas". They honestly couldn't have cared less! At that point they just wanted to go out, lol! So into their costumes they went and we were off! This year we went out with two other families in our neighborhood, and even though it started raining the minute we got out, fun was had by all! One house in our neighborhood had an awesome "haunted house" you had to walk through to get to the door! Gotta admit, one of the "props" jumped at me at the last second and I totally screamed like a girl!!! Sadly, the awesome pirates from last year were nowhere to be found and by the time we got the kids home they were dragging!!! They even skipped a few houses on the way! So we got home and into jammies and capped the night off with more cheesy Goosebumps! Here are some pics of my darling witch, my dapper Vampire, my camera-shy Batman, and of course "SuperVan"! Sorry about the quality of the pics, this new camera phone is not so great in that area!!

Where did Vance Miller get his name?

ok, so I've had a bunch of people ask about Van's name! "Where did you get that?" and that sort of thing! So I thought I'd share! Back in April we got an email from Andy's cousin Brock and this picture and poem were included. I will let it speak for itself! Andy and I like to name our children after family. Our oldest son is Owen Walker after Andy's great grandfather (Owen) on his Mom's side, and my great grandfather (Walker was his last name) on my mom's side. So Vance came from Andy's great grandfather (Warren Vance) on his Dad's side, and I knew I wasn't going to have enough boys to name them after all I wanted to on my dad's side so I gave him my maiden name (Miller) because that was the common denominator!!! So now you know!!! hope that's not too confusing! =)

Say What?

Just thought I'd share some of the interesting things that come out of my children's mouths!!!! The other day Shelbie was coloring for homework while I was doing dishes. "mom" she says. "what?" "why is this called blue and this called brown? Why can't this (holding up brown) be blue and this (holding up blue) be brown?" I say: "I know what you mean! and I want to know who gets to decide!" she says: "mom, I KNOW who gets to decide, it's God and His Son, what I want to know is how they chose the WORDS!" Well, what can you say to that? LOL!

While I was getting the boys ready to take Owen to school the other day, Drew decided he wanted to wear his skate shoes so I told him to go get his socks. "NO! I can't do it I'm not giant!" was the response I recieved! Giant, really? Where did that come from? So funny!!!

One day while I was helping Shelbie pick out what she was going to wear to school I suggested one of her new dresses. here was the reply I got: "I really like that dress, but I don't want to be inappropriate. Kids don't really dress that good at my school!" Oh my, OK!!!

Shelbie and Owen were playing just yesterday and I overheard them talking. Shelbie says: "Owen let's play house, I'll be the mommy and you be my kid" Owen says: "no way! I'll be the daddy, then I can go golfing while you clean house!" Oh WOW this kid is five and already knows how his dad (and every other adult male he knows) operates!!

My Crew

So, I thought I would take a moment to introduce my crew! Of course you all know them by name (otherwise why would you be here?) =) But I will share some things you may not know!!! First we have Shelbie. She is six now and in first grade. She has always been terribly independent! Even as a baby she never wanted to be held or cuddled! She did everything early, from talking to walking and now she enjoys doing stunts (seriously) on her bike and playing with friends! Next comes Owen, my 5 year old sweetheart! He is in Kindergarten now! For those of you who don't remember, he couldn't wait to make his entrance into the world and showed up 5 weeks early!!! He was a little champ from the start, though, and followed his sister's lead in the independence department! He has always worked hard to keep up with her and as such he really is more like a 6 year old in many ways! He also enjoys doing bike stunts and he is much more fearless than Shelbie! He and Andy built a bike jump over the Summer and I still cringe every time he goes off of it!! (yes, Mom, he wears a helmet!) "Baby Drew", who is 3 now (can you believe it?), is not so much a baby anymore! He is wild, adventurous, and still so cute it melts your heart! Even when he's being "naughty Drew"! He looks up to the big kids and tries so hard to keep up with them! He also is a constant source of comedic relief! His favorite things at the moment are super heros and motorcycles! And of course we now have Vance! He has such a sweet and gentle spirit! He loves to be held, especially during his "fussy" time in he evenings. His big brothers and sister are enamoured of him, and he already enjoys a special bond with Owen. I am so blessed to have these little people, and so excited to be able to watch them grow!!! I couldn't wish for a better crew!

Look who finally has a blog!

Well, it's official! I have finally started a blog! I think I may be the last woman on Earth (well, Utah at least!) to have one of these things! Thank you friends for your gentle (I mean constant! LOL!) encouragement to get on here and get busy! Please be patient with me as I figure all this out. I know I am a member of Gen Y but I am probably the least technologically savvy member of this generation! I will try my best!!!
